Belleville Homes

Summer's almost over. You had a list of home improvement projects you wanted to tackle, but they're all too big, too expensive, too time-consuming. Fortunately, there are plenty of little improvements that can make a big difference in Belleville homes for sale without spending a lot of time and money. Here are a few small projects you can do this August that will have a big impact.

  • Smart Devices
What if you could create perfect lighting for any room or any situation, setting the bulbs intensity and even color? Or turn the thermostat up or down using your phone? Smart devices give you greater control over your home's appliances. They connect to the cloud, so you can control them with an app on your smartphone. Plus, devices like smart thermostats can lower your cooling bills, saving you energy.

  • Light Fixtures
Particularly if you're installing smart lighting, consider new light fixtures as well. If your current fixtures are old or outdated, some new ones can help brighten the room - literally! Consider fixtures that can adjust direction, to light different areas of a room as needed. Think about what kind of light you need in each room and where and invest in fixtures that will help create that atmosphere.

  • Bathroom Fixtures
A complete bathroom remodel can be expensive and take ages. But replacing the faucets and showerheads can make a big difference, much more simply. New bathroom fixtures will look better and, depending on the age of your old ones, will probably operate better as well. You can also invest in fixtures designed to save water. While you're at it, consider installing new towel racks and replacing the doorknobs and light plates as well. A few new fixtures will make the space look and feel like new.

  • Accent Wall
Painting the whole house is a daunting task. But what if you just painted one wall? An accent wall creates a pop of color that will stand out and make the entire space more vibrant. You can paint it one color, multiple colors, or even create fun patterns and designs. Choose a color that will go well with the other walls: something bold but not clashing.

  • Kitchen Upgrades
A new coat of paint or some staining can make old kitchen cabinets look like new. Add some shelves on the walls, too, to give you easier access to commonly used ingredients. And install a few hooks to hang pots and pans from to give your cabinets more storage space. Finally, upgrading the faucet in the kitchen sink can save water, make cleanup easier, and improve the look of the whole kitchen.

  • Curb Appeal
People see the outside of your home before they see the inside, so a few minor improvements can make a world of difference. Fiberglass covers for your porch columns can protect the wood from rot, insects, weather, and more, helping them look better and last longer. You can also place flower pots on the front porch with a variety of colorful flowers in them. Finally, add lights to your walkway, so people can find their way to your door at night.
