It's a great time of year to be out enjoying the spring air in the Belleville area. It's not too hot, and not too cold—in other words, it's perfect disc golf weather!
If you're not familiar with disc golf, then you're in for a treat. It's the perfect fusion of Frisbee and golf, and it's a great way to have some outdoor fun with friends. Plus, some of our real estate agents' favorite local parks in the Belleville area have awesome disc golf courses.
- Bicentennial Park - 4811 Belleville Crossing St, Belleville, IL 62220
One of Belleville's most scenic parks, Bicentennial Park has a rich, green landscape dotted with trees, fountains, and lakes. You'll get great views as you play your way through the park's 18-hole disc golf course. The course makes great use of the landscape's natural features for some challenging 200 to 300-foot holes beneath a tunnel-like canopy of trees. It's a fun course for disc golf players of all skill levels, located a stone's throw from many Belleville homes for sale.
- Citizens Park - 341 Citizens Park Dr, Belleville, IL 62220
A picturesque 45-acre green space, Citizens Park is a well-manicured suburban park with a great, easy-to-follow disc golf course. This is a great course for beginners, but it still offers a few challenging shots for more advanced players. It's a 9-hole course but has been updated with a second set of tees so you can play 18 holes using the same baskets. The color-coded signage is helpful; just play holes 1 through 9 following the yellow posts and holes 10 through 18 following the red posts.
- East End City Park - 501 Forest Ave, Belleville, IL 62220
A favorite place for Belleville locals to relax and enjoy the outdoors, East End City Park offers picnic areas, playgrounds, and lighted tennis courts. Of course, the park's disc golf course is the main attraction, and it doesn't disappoint. It's a relatively short but technical 9-hole course that definitely brings its fair share of challenges. Expect some tricky shots! The park and course are well-maintained, with gently rolling terrain.
- Horner Recreation Park - 11113 Widicus Rd, Lebanon, IL 62254
Spanning 58 acres, Horner Recreation Park is a great place to enjoy the outdoors. The disc golf course here is well-maintained, with 9 holes that offer a good mix of open and wooded terrain. The course was re-routed a few years back, and while there are those who preferred the old course, the new configuration has the advantage of avoiding the park's 5-acre lake, which used to claim a lot of discs. Horner Recreation Park also has baseball diamonds, a nature walk, and tennis courts. Be sure to check out some of these beautiful Lebanon homes for sale nearby.
- Clinton Hills Conservation Park - Swansea, IL 62226
Built on a former golf course, the disc golf course at Clinton Hills Conservation Park is one of the largest and most fun to play in the area. It's open and spacious, with long, challenging shots on rolling terrain. The only downside is that the course is still a bit of a work in progress and lacks signage. Even so, it's plenty playable. Clinton Hills Conservation Park is also a popular place for picnicking, and the park has ponds that offer good fishing. It's just minutes from many Swansea homes for sale.
